The Craig Lake – Teddy Lake Yurt, located in Michigamme Township, MI, is a highly-rated 5-star backcountry accommodation. It offers a remote and rugged experience within the expansive Craig Lake State Park.

This 16-foot-diameter yurt sleeps four people on bunk beds with mattresses. It is equipped with a wood stove for heat, an axe, a bow saw, and basic cooking and eating utensils for a rustic stay.

There is no running water or electricity at the yurt; a vault toilet is located nearby for convenience. Guests must bring their own linens, towels, and cookware, and can filter water from the lake.

Access to the yurt is challenging, as it’s located 4.8 miles from the closest plowed parking lot. From November to mid-May, all park roads are impassable by vehicles, requiring hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, or snowmobiling.

A canoe is provided for guests from mid-May to mid-October, along with paddles and adult-sized life jackets, though canoes are unavailable in winter. Firewood is supplied for the indoor woodstove between September 15 and June 1.

The Teddy Lake Yurt is pet-friendly, allowing up to two cats or dogs per stay for an additional fee. Cell phone coverage is limited to non-existent throughout the park, ensuring a true unplugged wilderness experience.
